Quick service restaurant (QSR) chains Carl’s Jr. and Whataburger have each returned a popular chicken sandwich to their menus for a limited time.

For Whataburger, it is the Buffalo Ranch Chicken Strip Sandwich, while Carl’s Jr. has brought back the Teriyaki Char Chicken Sandwich.

Carl’s Jr.

The Teriyaki Char Chicken Sandwich is back on the menu for until August 13 at Carl’s Jr.

The sandwich features a juicy charbroiled chicken breast, sliced grilled pineapple, melted Swiss cheese, onions, tomato, lettuce, mayonnaise and tangy Teriyaki Sauce on a potato bun.

"Carl's Jr. guests are extremely passionate, whether it's about … bringing back the Teriyaki lineup or delivering the flavors they crave on a budget," said Anthony Nguyen, Carl's Jr. vice president of marketing. "We're excited to give the people what they want – big, bold, innovative flavors at every price point that will keep them coming back for more."

Carl's Jr. is one of two quick service restaurant chains owned by CKE Restaurants Holdings, Inc., a privately held company based in Franklin, Tennessee. Carl’s Jr. has more than 1,000 locations in the United States and has a presence in 24 countries. CKE is also the parent company of Hardee’s.

Whataburger

The Whataburger Buffalo Ranch Chicken Strip Sandwich is back by popular demand and right in time for summer, the company stated in a press release.

The sandwich features crispy Whatachick'n Strips smothered in Whataburger's original spicy Buffalo Sauce and topped with cool Buttermilk Ranch and two slices of Monterey Jack cheese, all on a five-inch bun.

"The Buffalo Ranch Chicken Strip Sandwich was an instant hit when it was first introduced," Whataburger Chief Marketing Officer Scott Hudler said. "Since then, our fans have consistently demanded we bring it back, and we've been happy to oblige. While this unique flavor combination will be a welcome return for many guests, we're also thrilled to introduce it in our new markets."

The sandwich made its return on June 25, but the company did not reveal for how long it would be available.

Founded in 1950 and headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, Whataburger operates in more than 1,000 restaurants in 15 states.
