AFBF president supports 2024 farm bill

Zippy Duvall is calling for bipartisan collaboration.

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall has expressed eagerness for the progress of the 2024 farm bill, following the release of title-by-title overviews by the House and Senate Agriculture committees. Duvall appreciates the acknowledgment in both proposals of the need for additional investment in programs used by farmers and ranchers, particularly amidst falling commodity prices and increased inflation. Additionally, he notes the recognition of farmers' and ranchers' role in land, water and air conservation through voluntary, working lands conservation programs.

While acknowledging the importance of details and the remaining work ahead, Duvall encourages both committees to hold a markup this month to allow all members to contribute their ideas. He urges bipartisan collaboration to find consensus and pass the farm bill before the extension expires this year. Farm Bureau is committed to working with lawmakers to ensure that the final bill positively impacts the hard-working families who provide healthy, safe and affordable food for the nation and beyond.
