Kansas State University receives USPOULTRY grant

$5,600 donation will enhance student recruitment.

The USPOULTRY Foundation has awarded Kansas State University a $5,600 grant to enhance student recruitment. With the largest department on campus, boasting over 1,100 students, the University's Department of Animal Sciences and Industry will utilize the funds for various initiatives.

The grant will support the promotion of the avian sciences club, organize field trips to industry leaders such as Cal-Maine Foods and Tyson Foods, facilitate FFA Career Development Events, and enhance poultry judging activities. These efforts aim to transition from merely informing students about opportunities in the poultry industry to actively involving them, showcasing potential roles within the field.

Kansas State University is one of 26 colleges and universities across the United States with poultry science departments or industry-related degree programs to receive a total of $297,580 in student recruiting grants approved by the USPOULTRY Foundation board. These grants, made possible by contributions from companies, individuals, and families, along with funds generated at the International Poultry Expo, play a crucial role in attracting students to poultry programs nationwide.
