At EuroTier 2024, the DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft e. V.) awarded Bernd Meerpohl, CEO of Big Dutchman, its highest honor, the Max Eyth Gold Medal, for his contributions to agriculture and EuroTier’s development. Meerpohl received the award from DLG President Hubertus Paetow at the International Poultry Event on the eve of EuroTier, recognizing his role in making EuroTier the world’s leading trade fair for animal husbandry.
Meerpohl has been instrumental to EuroTier for over 30 years, serving as an honorary member and chair of the EuroTier Exhibitor Advisory Board since 1994. He has driven EuroTier's growth with innovative ideas and strategic leadership, including the recent addition of the Inhouse Farming Food & Feed Show, reflecting his ability to anticipate industry trends and address future challenges in livestock management.
Big Dutchman, led by Meerpohl, is a global leader in innovative feeding systems and climate control for pig and poultry farming, employing around 3,100 people with a presence in over 150 countries. The company generates approximately one billion euros in annual turnover.
“Bernd Meerpohl's commitment has significantly advanced not only EuroTier but also international agriculture as a whole,” said Paetow during the award presentation.
