Perdue Farms announces donation

The company is partnering with Feeding America food banks to deliver 80,000 pounds of chicken to areas affected by Hurricane Helene.

In response to the devastating floods caused by Hurricane Helene, Perdue Farms has announced the donation of three truckloads of frozen chicken and pet treats to support recovery efforts in western North Carolina and northwest South Carolina. This contribution is part of Perdue’s continued commitment to assist communities affected by natural disasters.

"The unimaginable losses endured by thousands of Carolinians, in states where we operate and where many of our associates and their families live, are heartbreaking," said Todd Tillemans, chief commercial officer for Perdue Farms. "Our thoughts are with all those impacted, and we hope our contributions will help speed the recovery process."

Perdue is partnering with Feeding America food banks in the region to deliver 80,000 pounds of chicken, which equates to more than 66,000 meals, along with a truckload of Full Moon and Spot Farms brand dog treats. The donations will be directed to areas most in need, including:

  • Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina in Charlotte
  • Manna FoodBank in Asheville, which lost its entire food supply in the floods
  • Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina

Linda Nageotte, president and chief operating officer of Feeding America, emphasized the impact of these donations, saying, "Perdue’s donation of protein will help food banks provide vital nourishment to people recovering from the damage. The company’s inclusion of pet food recognizes the importance of supporting the whole family."

Perdue's donation is part of the company’s Delivering Hope To Our Neighbors initiative, which focuses on improving quality of life and strengthening communities through food donations, disaster relief, and other community-based support.

Kay Carter, CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, added, "We are deeply grateful to companies like Perdue that are helping us replenish protein supplies for the many families who lost food due to widespread power outages. This gift will support so many of our neighbors, both people and pets, during this challenging time."
