Animal Health Institute’s board of directors announces new chair

Ester Banque of Zoetis brings over 30 years of experience to the position.

The Animal Health Institute’s board of directors has elected Ester Banque of Zoetis as board chair for the 2024-26 term. Banque, executive vice president and president, U.S. Operations for Zoetis, will succeed Richard R. DeLuca, Jr., of Merck Animal Health. Joseph N. Huff of Colorado Serum Company was re-elected as treasurer.

“We are excited to welcome Ester as our new Board chair,” said AHI President and CEO Alexander S. Mathews. “Animal health and welfare contribute to important societal goals, and we look forward to working with Ester to create a regulatory and policy environment that incentivizes innovation in animal health.”

Ester Banque expressed her commitment to driving industry innovation and fostering healthy animal lives through effective policy. She brings over 30 years of experience in health sciences, having led businesses at Bristol Myers-Squibb and Novartis before joining Zoetis in 2023. Banque is also a prominent advocate for LGBTQ+ inclusion, recognized with several prestigious awards.
