Sam Houston State University's strong internship program and engagement with events like state FFA conventions contribute to higher retention rates and prepare students for roles in the poultry and allied industry. The grant is part of a larger initiative, with the USPOULTRY Foundation approving a total of $297,580 in student recruiting grants to 26 colleges and universities nationwide with poultry science departments or industry-related degree programs. These grants aim to attract students to poultry programs and are made possible through contributions from companies, individuals, families and funds earned at the International Poultry Expo.
