USPOULTRY hosting TECHTalks at 2024 IPPE

Six projects completed in 2023 will be featured.

The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) is set to unveil the latest advancements in poultry research at the 2024 International Production & Processing Expo’s (IPPE) TECHTalks on Thursday, Feb. 1. Six USPOULTRY-funded projects completed in 2023 will be featured, addressing critical areas such as poultry diseases, animal welfare and food safety.

The session kicks off with an overview of Dr. Mitsu Suyemoto's project, "Competitive Inhibition of Pathogenic Enterococcus Cecorum by Avirulent Strains," followed by Dr. Ravi Kulkarni's insights on "Enhancing Immunogenicity and Protective Efficacy of Recombinant Infectious Laryngotracheitis Vaccines in Broiler Chickens."

TECHTalks also cover topics like Dr. Prafulla Regmi's "Automated Tracking of Laying Hens in Cage-Free Aviary Environment Using Affordable RFID Chips" and Ted Brown's exploration of "Evaluation of Egg Wash Sanitizers to Reduce Salmonella Contamination on and in Turkey Eggs."

The program concludes with discussions on projects by Dr. Jeremiah Johnson and Dr. Brian Jordan, delving into areas such as Campylobacter jejuni survival during poultry processing and the investigation into the cause and prevention of False Layer Syndrome.

USPOULTRY's $36 million research program aims to enhance the quality and safety of poultry products.
