A woman was taken into custody under a $1 million bond after allegedly discharging a firearm in the parking lot of the Perdue Farms facility in Lewiston, North Carolina.

According to a Bertie County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Facebook post, at 10:02 a.m. on June 14, BCSO deputies responded to a report of someone firing shots in the parking lot. While officers were en route, they were advised that the suspect had left the scene, and was possibly heading to nearby Pitt County.

Upon watching surveillance video and speaking with witnesses, deputies identified Makeka Keyon White, 44, as the suspect. White is a resident of Pitt County.

The BCSO cooperated with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office, and deputies there were able to apprehend the suspect. She was taken into custody in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $1 million bond. She faces charges of discharging a firearm from an enclosure and going armed to the terror of the people.

The BSCO did not state whether the gunfire led to any damage to property.
