A scholarship within the University of Minnesota Hubbard School of Journalism has been set up as a memorial to Steve Kopperud, who passed late last year. Many of us in the food, agriculture, and animal welfare worlds knew Steve and his passion for communication and writing, especially within these specific areas. This scholarship brings to life Steve’s vision of providing financial assistance to smart, would-be journalists with an interest in reporting, writing and communication reflecting Steve’s work related to science, research, and technology in food and agriculture, animal welfare and the relationship between food and the environment through government policy, regulations, and advocacy.
