Agri Star Meat and Poultry has announced that it will be hiring 150 workers at its Postville, Iowa, kosher processing plant to increase its poultry production and resume beef processing within a few weeks, according to JTA news service.
Agri Star purchased Agriprocessors last fall after Agriprocessors went into bankruptcy, largely as a result of a May 2008 immigration raid that led to the detention of 389 of the plant’s approximately 1,000 employees, according to The Washington Post.
Agri Star’s Postville plant currently has about 400 employees, JTA reported.
