Protein processing company North Star Foods Inc. and food processor Quantum Foods LLC announced that they will combine operations into a single food company called Quantum Foods, according to Food Product Design.
North Star Foods co-owners Patrick Thesing and Brad Arndt will continue to serve in leadership and customer contact roles. Several of North Star Foods’ remaining employees will work at Quantum Foods in operations, sales and development.
In April 2009, a fire destroyed North Star Foods’ processing plant in Saint Charles, Minnesota, resulting in the loss of 250 jobs. The company considered rebuilding its facility or purchasing an existing plant in the Saint Charles area, but market conditions and the cost associated with construction or acquisition led it to end its operations there.
