Bangladesh to regulate feed suppliers

Concerns over contamination

Bangladesh is considering a law banning the antibiotic nitrofuran and chloramphenicol from feed over carcinogenicity concerns, according to the country’s Financial Express newspaper.

Earlier this year, the European Union refused prawn shipments from Bangladesh after detecting nitrofuran in the seafood. According to the newspaper, exporters support the law, which would also require feed suppliers to register with the government.
