NPPC opposes climate change bill

Pork producers are already incurring a loss of about $30 per hog.

The National Pork Producers Council opposed the climate change legislation in a letter written to House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson, D-Minnesota, and Ranking Member Frank Lucas, R-Oklahoma.

Pork producers, who are incurring a loss of about $30 per hog, fear the legislation would lead to a raise in energy and input costs by more than 20%, making it impossible for pig producers to compete in the international market.
