Rose Acre Farms continued an annual tradition this past holiday season by raising money to purchase gifts for local nursing home residents.

This past holiday season, Rose Acre Farms team members held a “Pie in the Face or Kiss the Pig” contest to raise money to buy gifts for residents at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour. For the contest, employees could vote for one fellow employee to either receive a pie in the face or kiss a pig. After all votes were tallied, the top four contestants were selected. The top four contestants then had the choice if they would rather receive a pie in the face or kiss a pig. If a certain dollar amount was raised, the contestant with the fifth-most votes would also be included in receiving a pie in the face or kissing a pig.

Five lucky Rose Acre Farms Employees were granted the choice of a pie in the face or kissing a pig Friday at the Rose Acre Farms Corporate Office in Seymour. Of the five contestants, three received a pie in the face, one kissed the pig, and one employee both kissed the pig and received a pie in the face.

After collecting all donations, Rose Acre Farms employees raised $2717.10. With the donations, 20 residents at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour received gifts for Christmas. Rose Acre Farms employees and their families delivered the gifts and sang Christmas carols to the residents.

The remainder of the funds were donated to Double Down Outreach, a local non-profit that donates food and supplies to those in need during the winter season. $1000 of the donations was also pledged to the same fundraiser during the next holiday season.
