Consolidation expected for Brazilian poultry sector in 2014
The Brazilian poultry industry is expected to see further consolidation this year along with greater investment in further processing, forecasts Rabobank.While the industry is expected to benefit from continued lowering of grain prices, growth in production will be constrained by the home market being close to saturation point for unprocessed poultry meat and by export markets being vulnerable to oversupply.

Shenandoah Processing to reopen former Pilgrim’s poultry plant
Shenandoah Processing, a newly formed, locally owned company located in Harrisonburg, Va., will reopen a former Pilgrim's poultry processing facility and create 102 new full-time equivalent positions in Harrisonburg. Moy Park has created 450 permanent full-time jobs at its Anwick poultry processing site in Lincolnshire, and 450 staff who previously worked in temporary roles at the processing factory have become permanent, full-time employees. The Anwick plant now provides permanent employment for 1,500 people, and the latest investment has enabled the business to strengthen its processing capability at the site, Moy Park says.
