USPOULTRY accepting nominations for Charles Beard Research Excellence Award
The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association and the USPOULTRY Foundation are accepting nominations from colleges and universities for the Charles Beard Research Excellence Award through July 1. The goal of this award is to recognize outstanding completed research projects, funded by USPOULTRY or the USPOULTRY Foundation, which have made a significant positive impact on the poultry industry.

Layer research highlighted at International Scientific Forum
Every year before the International Poultry Expo, scientists and producers from universities and companies worldwide come together for the International Poultry Scientific Forum. Highlights from this year’s forum include presentations on LED lighting for layers, evaluation of DDGS in layer rations, organic alternatives to synthetic methionine, calcium particle size for pullets, quality of egg yolks with oxycarotenoid supplementation and detection of Salmonella enteritidis in trachea tissue.

In a time of record costs, research and technology are continuing to help move poultry’s feed industry forward. The 2013 International Poultry Scientific Forum in Atlanta provided a wealth of new information on several important poultry nutrition topics, including: value of low oil DDGS in poultry diets; use of high levels of DDGS in layer, broiler and turkey feeds; survey of mycotoxins in poultry ingredients and feeds; enzyme additions; and use of probiotics in poultry diets.

2013 IPPE sets attendance record
The 2013 International Production & Processing Expo had record attendance with 26,393 poultry, meat and feed industry leaders from all over the world. The expo is the world's largest annual poultry, meat and feed industry event of its kind and is one of the 50 largest trade shows in the U.S.

The 2013 International Production & Processing Expo — the exciting new collaboration resulting from the co-location of the International Poultry Expo, International Feed Expo, and the International Meat Expo — will bring together more than 1,000 exhibitors and an anticipated 25,000 attendees from over 100 countries to the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta from January 29-31, 2013.

The 2013 International Production & Processing Expo has surpassed 400,000 net square feet in exhibit space, covering over 20 acres of exhibit area, according to show organizers. Comprised of three integrated tradeshows — the International Poultry Expo, the International Feed Expo and the American Meat Institute's International Meat Expo — more than 970 exhibitors have registered for the 2013 International Production & Processing Expo as of the beginning of September.
