Poultry industry should connect with consumers through social media
Consumers are talking using social media to form their opinions on topics such as animal welfare and food safety, and the poultry and feed industries need to be part of the dialogue, according to David Armano, executive vice president of Edelman Digital. Armano, who spoke at the International Poultry Scientific Forum luncheon sponsored by Novus International on January 23 at the International Poultry Expo, focused on four distinct areas where he said people are gathering their information: traditional media, new media such as blogs, social media and owned media such as company websites.

IPE Week set for January 23-27, 2012
The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association designated the week of the 2012 International Poultry and International Feed Expos, January 23-27, 2012, as "IPE Week." IPE Week will feature education programs addressing current industry issues, including the International Poultry Scientific Forum, Pet Food Conference, Animal Agricultural Sustainability Summit, Hatchery-Breeder Clinic and AFIA International Feed Education Program.

The International Poultry Expo/International Feed Expo (IPE/IFE) will bring together 20,000 industry leaders from over 100 countries in Atlanta from January 26 to 28, 2011. Sponsored by the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) and the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), IPE/IFE is the world's largest display of technology, equipment, supplies, and services used in the production and processing of poultry, eggs and in feed manufacturing.

The International Poultry Scientific Forum presented a check for $18,047.11 to the U.S. Poultry & Egg Harold E. Ford Foundation during the Foundation's September meeting. "We are pleased to accept this donation on behalf of the Ford Foundation," said Foundation Chairman Monty Henderson.
