Seaboard Corporation named Barbara M. Smith as its vice president, corporate controller and principal accounting officer.

The company announced the appointment via a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and a copy of that announcement can be found on Seaboard’s investor relations webpage.

Smith, 42, had been serving as the company’s corporate controller and principal accounting officer on an interim basis since March, and was named to those positions on a permanent basis, with immediate effect on April 27.

In the same securities filing, Seaboard announced it had elected the following people to director positions: Ellen S. Bresky, David A. Adamsen, Douglas W. Baena, Paul M. Squires and Frances B. Shifman.

The filing is signed by Robert L. Steer, Seaboard president and CEO.

Seaboard Corporation is the parent company of Seaboard Foods, one of the country’s largest pork producers. It also holds a majority non-controlling interest in Butterball, the nation’s largest turkey producer.
