MGK, a pioneer in botanical active ingredients for insect control and a global leader in pyrethrum-based solutions for over 120 years, announces the successful EPA registration of its newest active ingredient, Veratrine. This innovative development marks an important milestone in MGK’s ongoing commitment to efficacious pest control solutions by adding a new mode of action to the company’s botanical portfolio.
Veratrine is a botanical active ingredient comprised of alkaloids extracted from the seed of the sabadilla plant (Schoenocaulon officinale). Sabadilla alkaloids have unique insecticidal properties to control a wide range of pests. One of the key benefits of Veratrine is a Mode of Action (IRAC class “UNE”) that is unique from other botanical or conventional insect control options.
The registration of Veratrine resulted from MGK’s rigorous R&D efforts and collaboration across technical, regulatory and commercial teams. By combining the power of nature with cutting-edge science, MGK continues to set the standard for botanical innovation that addresses critical needs in pest management.
“This is an exciting moment for MGK,” said Steve Gullickson, president and CEO. “We couldn’t be more proud of our team for their hard work and creativity in making Veratrine a reality. This new active ingredient is a significant step forward in our commitment to provide pest control solutions that make a real difference for our customers and the communities they serve.”
Veratrine is designed to support a broad range of pest management applications across MGK’s key market segments. Specific formulations are currently under development to bring new botanical solutions with a unique mode of action into professional pest control, animal production, vector control and crop protection markets. Veratrine will be a key part of MGK’s portfolio of botanical and environmentally smart products that manage insecticide resistance and deliver responsible solutions that customers can trust.
With its rich history in botanical innovation, MGK continues to lead the way in creating advanced pest control technologies. Veratrine serves as another chapter in MGK’s legacy of transforming natural resources into solutions that improve lives and protect communities.
