Women in Ag Award 2024 winners announced

This year's award drew 107 women from 34 countries.

The Women in Ag Award 2024 winners have been announced by the DLG (German Agricultural Society) and Women in Ag Magazine, recognizing outstanding women in the agricultural sector. The awards are divided into four categories: Agriculture, Agribusiness, Education and Technology & Research, honoring special contributions to local, national and international agriculture. This year's award drew 107 women from 34 countries. The winners were selected by an international jury and will be honored at EuroTier 2024 on November 13 in Hanover, Germany.

Winners by Category:

Agribusiness:

  • 1st Place: Doreen Jean Nsasiirwe (Uganda)–Focuses on producing sustainable health products
  • 2nd Place: Susan Waithira Kuria (Kenya)–Co-founder of Essential Drugs Limited
  • 3rd Place: Neamat ElTazi (Egypt)–Co-founder of PoultrySync, advancing poultry industry efficiency

Agriculture:

  • 1st Place: Jana Gäbert (Germany)–Champions sustainability and biodiversity
  • 2nd Place: Caroline Jaspart (Belgium)–President of the Union des Agricultrices Wallonnes, advocating for women farmers
  • 3rd Place: Judith Bakirya (Uganda)–Director of Busaino Herbs and Fruits, promoting agroecology

Education:

  • 1st Place: Rosinah Mbenya (Kenya)–Coordinator at PELUM Kenya, advocating agroecology
  • 2nd Place: Christine Jodloman (Philippines)–Reaches thousands of farmers with development programs
  • 3rd Place: Helen Louton (Germany)–Professor at University of Rostock focusing on poultry welfare

Technology and Research:

  • 1st Place (tie): Annika Behler (Germany)–Specializes in drone technology and AI for sustainable farming
  • 1st Place (tie): Katharina Berse (Germany)–Develops solutions in sustainable agriculture through microbiology
  • 2nd Place: Lisbeth Henricksen (Denmark)–Director of Innovation at SEGES Innovation, working across multiple agricultural sectors
  • 3rd Place: LaKisha Odom (USA)–Promotes sustainability and diversity in agriculture at FFAR

These remarkable women are being honored for their contributions to advancing agriculture in various sectors, from sustainable practices to technological innovations.
