U.S. egg producer NestFresh redesigned its packaging to form a better connection with its current consumers and draw in new buyers.

The new design features bright, color-coded packaging with bold letters to help consumers identify the producer’s eggs quickly in the egg cabinet, as well as illustrations of farmers interacting with laying hens.

The packaging emphasizes that NestFresh hens are housed in free-range or pasture-raised environments and features the producer’s third-party certifications.

Additionally, the packaging’s new colors and illustrations help create a sense of connection and warmth for consumers and is meant to replicate what it feels like to be on a NestFresh farm, explained the producer. Tests in stores using the updated design have shown an increase in trial and repurchase rates among consumers, confirming that the packaging plays to the consumer’s emotions.

Egg consumers can find NestFresh’s new packaging at U.S. grocer retailers including Harris Teeter, Whole Foods Market, Publix and H-E-B. NestFresh eggs are distributed by Hidden Villa Ranch, the 20th largest egg producer in the U.S., according to WATT Global Media’s 2024 Top Egg Producers Survey.

“Our old packaging wasn’t telling the complete NestFresh story in the way we felt our farmers deserved,” stated NestFresh Vice President Jasen Urena. “We’re incredibly proud of the small family farmers we support, and wanted to find a way to express our gratitude for them with our product.”

NestFresh produces eggs using regenerative agriculture

In December 2021, NestFresh released two types of shell eggs, pasture raised and multicolored, produced under the New Barn Organics brand, a company that previously primarily produced milk products.

The two shell egg options are Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC) certified.

Established in 2017, ROC is a certification program containing standards that are set for farming, ranching, soil health, animal welfare and farmer and worker fairness. It is the only national standard for regenerative organic agriculture in the U.S. and is based on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) organic standards.
