The National Turkey Federation (NTF) and the North American Meat Institute (NAMI) released a statement today following the introduction of the Farm Workforce Modernization Act in the U.S. House of Representatives, which makes reforms to agricultural guestworker policy.

“Labor availability is one of the biggest issues affecting agriculture as a whole, and nowhere is this challenge more acute than in meat and poultry packing and processing. Introduction of the Farm Workforce Modernization Act is a step forward in the effort to address agriculture’s labor challenges. As this legislation is considered in Congress, we look forward to working with lawmakers to find a solution that would allow meat and poultry processors to utilize a viable agricultural guestworker program,” it said.

The National Turkey Federation is the national advocate for America’s turkey farmers and producers, raising awareness for its members’ products while strengthening their ability to profitably and safely deliver wholesome, high-quality and nutritious food to consumers worldwide.
