Wingstop’s new limited time Sweet Chili Glaze flavor for chicken wings capitalizes on growing consumer interest in global flavors.
Innovations like these combine the excitement and novelty of international cuisines with something that I might eat more often, such as chicken wings. According to a press release, Sweet Chili Glaze offers a “bold flavor profile” and is a “sweet and spicy fusion” of sweet chili, rich hoisin and red chili sauce topped with sesame seeds for an extra crunch.
I got the opportunity to try the Sweet Chili Glaze chicken wings recently and I have to say that they really lived up to the hype. They were zesty, tangy, but also sweet. The chicken wings had enough heat, but the spiciness wasn’t overpowering. My one- and three-year-old nephews can eat spicier food than I can so finding something the whole family can and will eat (without crying) can be a challenge, but this appeals to all levels of tolerance or love for spicy foods.
I also tried the Wingstop chicken sandwich. It features a cooked-to-order, hand sauced-and-tossed chicken breast dipped in a choice of 12 flavors and topped with a toasted bun and crunchy pickles. It was okay, but it also pretty basic and needed pickles or some other topping to make it really special.
Overall, I really enjoyed my meal and will definitely make plans to try Sweet Chili Glaze on my chicken wings again.
