The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) will co-host a free webinar on October 5 to inform the grain, animal feed and pet food industry about the major outcomes contained in the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) final regulations implementing the human and animal food provisions of the Food Safety Modernization Act.

With hundreds of pages dedicated to the human and animal food final regulations, the webinar offers members of the grain, feed and processing industry an ideal opportunity to learn about how the new FDA regulations will affect their companies, as well as what they can begin doing now to prepare for compliance.

The webinar will cover details and answer questions about the agency's recently published FSMA regulations, which apply to domestic and foreign facilities that manufacture, process, pack or store animal feed, as well as pet food.

The webinar takes place Monday, October 5, 2015, at 3 p.m EDT.

David Fairfield, vice president of feed services at NGFA, will serve as the presenter during the webinar and will be available to respond to questions posed by webinar participants. He manages the NGFA's activities pertaining to feed and feed ingredient manufacturing, and livestock/poultry integrator operations.

The webinar will provide an overview of FDA's new regulations and address specific details of the agency's final FSMA rules important to the grain, feed and processing industry, including timelines for compliance and exemptions granted in the rulemaking.

The NGFA has been engaged in ongoing discussions with FDA concerning the rules. Fairfield is a leader in the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance, which was established by FDA to develop training materials and provide technical guidance on how to comply with FDA's preventive control regulations. Fairfield chairs the Alliance's task force developing education and training materials for animal food manufacturers and ingredient suppliers.
