A fire at the Wayne-Sanderson Farms plant in Union Springs, Alabama, resulted in the evacuation and temporary shutdown of processing operations.
A spokesman for the company said the fire occurred in the afternoon of February 26. The local fire department and company team members responded to the incident and extinguished the blaze.
The company reported that nobody was injured in the incident.
Because of the damages incurred at the plant, on site processing operations have been suspended. Operations are expected to resume, pending the investigation of the cause of the fire and the completion of necessary equipment repairs.
