Aviagen's Valley of the Moon signs turkey egg supplier agreement
Aviagen Turkeys and its Valley of the Moon Commercial Poults enterprise signed a long-term agreement to supply 100% Nicholas commercial turkey hatching eggs to Nash Johnson. Valley of the Moon Commercial Poults will manage Nash Johnson’s current parent stock flocks on the ground, and Nash Johnson will continue to manage its hatchery and other operations in Rose Hill, N.C.

Cobb poultry seminar focuses on global economics, production
A technical poultry seminar hosted by Cobb Europe focused on poultry production with emphasis on global economics, health and ventilation, incubation and nutrition. The week-long event was attended by more than 40 delegates from grandparent distributors and parent stock customers from Europe, the Middle East and Africa and was held at Friesland in northern Holland.

Aviagen Hungary hosts poultry seminar for European customers
Aviagen Kft, the poultry company's Hungarian business unit, recently held its fifth poultry seminar for central European parent stock customers in Lake Balaton, Hungary. The three-day event, attended by more than 220 guests from 17 countries, consisted of a mixture of regional country updates, practical management advice and topical presentations.

Namibia poultry producer signs contract with Danish ventilation manufacturer
Danish ventilation system manufacturer SKOV A/S has entered into an agreement with Namibia's Namib Poultry Industries Ltd. to supply complete Combi-Tunnel ventilation systems to a farm with 53 poultry houses. Six of the poultry houses will be for rearing stock, 12 for parent stock and 35 for broilers, according to Namib.

Accurate incubation, ventilation focus of Cobb Germany peak production seminar
A two-day seminar focusing on the importance of proper chick incubation and ventilation was held by Cobb Germany for more than 80 key players of the Hungarian chicken meat industry. The event, which highlighted Cobb’s 500 parent stock, featured technical presentations covering how to provide for the chicks’ temperature needs, heat stress related to different climatic conditions and the importance of ventilation in achieving good environmental conditions.

Broiler breeder held poultry training in France, Poland
Broiler breeding company Hubbard organized Grand Parent stock training for its distributors from Bangladesh, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The training started with a weeklong GP management school at the Hubbard headquarters at Quintin in France, followed by hands-on training at the Hubbard Polska production center in Poland.

Cobb Europe seminar focuses on broiler management, performance
Cobb Europe held a technical seminar focusing on the influence of hatchery and parent stock management and feeding programs on Cobb 500 broiler performance in central Holland. The event featured presenter Ron Meijerhof, hatchery expert from Poultry Performance Plus, who spoke about changes in incubation that can make a positive difference to broiler performance, particularly using the optimum incubation time for each breed.

Inaugural Aviagen European Veterinary Forum focuses on flock health, welfare
Aviagen recently hosted the company's inaugural European Veterinary Forum, which included veterinarians who support the health and welfare of Aviagen Grandparent stock across Europe as well as members of the internal Aviagen veterinary team. The forum focused on ways to consistently improve the health and welfare of GP stock and had an interactive format — all participants were encouraged to play an active part in the meeting by presenting case studies on a number of topics and participating in group discussions.

Arbor Acres stock now available in Algeria
Parent Stock (PS) customers in Algeria can now source Arbor Acres stock directly from Arbor Acres Algérie, a new distributor owned by Groupe Kherbouche. Arbor Acres Algérie currently has one farm in operation; three more farms are scheduled to be completed in 2011.

Cobb opens $14 million hatchery in Tennessee
Cobb has opened a $14 million hatchery in Tennessee that uses state-of-the-art energy-saving technology. The hatchery, which will be supplied with hatching eggs from 27 local breeder farms, will begin producing parent stock in January 2011.

Aviagen holds first-ever broiler awards
Aviagen presented its first-ever broiler flock awards at the recent company seminar held in Moscow, Russia. The company, which has previously recognized parent stock success, added best individual broiler flock, best individual parent stock flock, continuously improved broiler flock and best yearly performance for parent stock flocks to its list of awarded accomplishments.
